ÁNGEL MUÑOZ COMPANY

> ‘Ángel. Vuelo/baile flamenco del blanco al negro’
Premiere: Festival de Jerez 2011 (March, 1st and 2nd)
‘Ángel. Vuelo/baile flamenco del blanco al negro’ is a project in which the flamenco dancer Ángel Muñoz reflects on the contradictory meanings of his own name. The messenger, the guardian, the one that falls, the one that flies, the one that keeps, the struggle, the Annunciation, white and black… are symbolisms which he has used to choreograph the work. The show, directed together with creator and music producer Daniel Muñoz, is the result of tackling a challenge: the bailaor doesn’t yield to the music, but rather faces it in a dialogue between body and instruments. To do so, the Córdoba-born bailaor -winner of the 1994 National Prize of Córdoba- surrounds himself with a selection of soloists with a distinct personality like cantaor Miguel Ortega -winner of the 2010 Lámpara Minera Award-, musician and cantaor José Ángel Carmona, guitarist Javier Patino, percussionist Nacho López, saxophonist Diego Villegas and electronic musician Artomatico.
